On November 2, 2021, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Friends of Saint Nicholas welcomed the leader of Global Orthodox Christianity as he officially blessed the Saint Nicholas National Shrine at The World Trade Center and participated in the elevation of the Cross atop its marbled dome.
This unique film by EarthCam documents two decades of the rescue, recovery and rebuilding at the World Trade Center site in New York City. It is the longest running time-lapse project in the company’s history, including never-before-seen EarthCam footage spanning 20 years.
The Friends of Saint Nicholas was established in December 2019 in order to raise, invest, and disburse funds for the construction and further improvement of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at the World Trade Center.
The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine is located at the World Trade Center, adjacent to the 9/11 memorial. Its beacon of light shines from high atop Liberty Park.
Saint Nicholas will be rebuilt as more than the humble Greek Orthodox Church of lower Manhattan; it is being rebuilt as a National Shrine and place of pilgrimage for our Nation.
